Sovereign have adopted a clean and clear scheme that uses the blue from their logo as the accent colour throughout the design. They’re not afraid of using imagery to help get their messages across and have some strong calls to action on the home page to generate customer interest. The services page is very clear and does away with any superfluous content, simply focussing in on what they do in short, sharp bullet points.

The dropshadow around the content helps lift the design off the page and contributes to the professional and clean nature of the end result. Skelton’s home page is a good example of simplicity, coupled with targeted calls to action. The use of imagery on the home page and throughout the site helps support the well-written content beneath.

Yellow Tail

Yellow can be a overbearing colour in web design, however the Yellow Tail website uses it to great effect. The sunny feel of the site is supported with great aspirational imagery and they’ve made good use of customer testimonials to support calls to action.

Avon’s site is modern and sleek. It offers some great dynamic content as the top header image and message changes after a short period, allowing the visitor to find out about all their services, but in nice bite-size chunks. For all customers there’s some useful news content down the left hand side.

Summary

Just goes to show that you don’t need to be listed in the Top 100 IFA’s publication to have a fantastic online presciences. The above all show how small business can achieve good design that effectively communicates with new and existing customers, which ultimately is what a website design should do. Well done all.
