Social Media in Financial Services

Would have loved to have gone to the Social Media in Financial Services conference, but sadly couldn’t make it. However as if to support the message of using social media in the industry the internet is awash with comment and write-ups on the event.

Of course the ubiquitous Twitter comes into it’s own via the use of the #socialmediafs hashtag from people at and around the conference itself, proving that word of mouth and technology can work together.

So overall it seems to have been a success and it’s good to see these kind of topics being discussed and dragging what is sometimes a very dry and backwards facing industry, albeit belatedly, into the modern world.

My Financial Calendar from Unbiased

Unbiased, the place some consumers go to find an IFA or financial adviser, have launched a new consumer tool: The Financial Calender. It is intended to help consumers think about the finance related things that occur on specific dates throughout the year, for example renewing one’s car insurance.

It’s a great little tool that can integrates with Outlook to add the key dates into your diary. It’s a slight shame it doesn’t integrate with anything other than Outlook as I personally use Google Calendar, but it’s a good start.
